LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, participants in the financial sector will be able to:

  1. Gain a deep understanding of sustainable investment concepts, principles, and practices, and their relevance to the financial sector.
  2. Explore different sustainable investment approaches, such as ESG exclusion, ESG integration, impact investing, and thematic investing. Understand the strengths, limitations, and potential synergies between these approaches.
  3. Familiarise themselves with sustainable asset classes, including fixed income, loans, corporate equity, and private equity. Learn how to assess and evaluate sustainability factors within these asset classes.
  4. Develop the skills to incorporate sustainability factors into the investment process. Learn about different methodologies and tools available to assess and integrate  environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into investment decisions.
  5. Stay informed about current trends in sustainable investment, including emerging approaches and challenges. Explore the evolving landscape of sustainable finance and identify opportunities for innovation.
  6. Study leading global and regional sustainable investment initiatives, coalitions, and pledges. Understand the principles and best practices promoted by organizations such as the UN Principles for Responsible Investment and the Operating Principles for Impact Management by IFC.

ASSESSMENT

The course is assessed based on the standard IBF accreditation scheme.
