Date: 10 Feb 2026
Time: 12pm – 2pm
Venue: Capital Group

IMAS hosted a Lunch & Learn session featuring Tracey Wingate, Chief Global Affairs Officer of the Investment Company Institute (ICI), alongside Matthew Mohlenkamp from ICI, in a fireside chat moderated by Ieva Narang of Capital Group. The interactive discussion explored how evolving regulatory approaches across the United States, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific are reshaping global capital markets and influencing Singapore’s role as a leading international centre for asset and wealth management.

Key themes included:

  • Modernizing regulatory frameworks to simplify and strengthen oversight.
  • Expanding retail access to private market investments, while balancing investor protection.
  • Opportunities and challenges from new technologies such as AI, digital assets, and tokenization.

Despite differences in market cultures across regions, a shared priority emerged: turning savers into investors and ensuring capital remains within the regulated ecosystem. Retail participation, particularly through retirement systems, continues to be the biggest driver of market depth. In the US, ETFs are gaining traction, while Europe and Asia are focused on pension reform, tax incentives, and improving access.

On private assets, speakers emphasized that access does not equate to mass adoption. Regulators remain focused on investor understanding, liquidity, valuation, and distribution readiness. Private markets are expected to serve a smaller, more sophisticated segment, often through long-term or retirement portfolios.

The discussion highlighted that progress will be incremental but directionally clear, with regulatory modernization and investor access shaping the future of global capital markets.
