Cross-Industry Participation

IMAS advocates the interests of the investment management community in Singapore through participation in various national platforms such as the Singapore Funds Industry Group (SFIG), Green Finance Industry Taskforce (GFIT) and Steering Committee for SOR Transition to SORA, and other industry-led, multi-stakeholder platforms. IMAS has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the Singapore Funds Industry Group (SFIG) and co-chairs one of the four working groups – Capabilities and Training Working Group. The Singapore Funds Industry Group (SFIG) is a partnership between MAS and the private sector to strengthen Singapore’s value proposition as a leading full-service asset management and fund domiciliation hub. It will identify emerging industry trends and formulate strategies to develop the asset management ecosystem.

IMAS is a Strategic Partner to the Green Finance Industry Taskforce (GFIT), which is convened by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Its mandate is to help accelerate the development of green finance through four key initiatives: (i) develop a taxonomy, (ii) enhance environmental risk management practices of financial institutions, (iii) improve disclosures, and (iv) foster green finance solutions.

IMAS is a member of the SSP Steering Committee, an industry-led collaboration amongst organisations which are committed to enhancing Singapore’s investment environment. Led by Stewardship Asia Centre, its focus is on encouraging responsible and active investors in Singapore through clear stewardship orientation and related practices.

The Singapore Stewardship Principles (SSP) for Responsible Investors are intended to enhance a positive investment environment by encouraging companies to pursue the spirit of good governance and stewardship, with the ultimate objective of helping companies secure their performance over the long term.

Over 2015-2016, a SSP Working Group was formed to develop the Singapore Stewardship Principles for Responsible Investors, which is intended to enhance a positive investment environment by encouraging companies to pursue the spirit of good governance and stewardship . Supported by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and Singapore Exchange (SGX), the SSP Steering Committee was subsequently formed to promote and administer the SSP.

IMAS has been appointed to the Steering Committee for SOR & SIBOR Transition to SORA (SC-STS), which was established by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to oversee the industry-wide interest rate benchmark transition from SOR/SIBOR to SORA. The Committee’s mandate is to ensure adequate stakeholder engagement and a well-managed transition, and it is responsible for providing strategic direction on industry proposals to develop new products and markets based on SORA. The Committee will also engage stakeholders to seek feedback and raise awareness on issues related to the transition from SOR and SIBOR to SORA.
