The IMAS Regulatory Committee invites you to the 17th IMAS Regulatory Roundtable that will be taking place on Wednesday, 22 November 2023, 2:15pm to 5:30pm (SGT), where current and pertinent regulatory issues affecting the investment management industry will be discussed.
The Roundtable serves as an interactive session for members to exchange their views and ideas, and will cover the following areas of the proposed guidelines released by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS):
- Proper Conduct of Digital Prospecting and Marketing Activities: In response to the fast-evolving landscape of digital marketing, MAS has proposed new guidelines aimed at enhancing the integrity and transparency of social media advertising. Participants will explore the implications of these guidelines and how to ensure proper conduct in digital prospecting and marketing activities while staying compliant with these new regulations.
- Anti-Money Laundering (AML): AML remains a critical area of focus, especially in light of recent news articles and regulatory updates. The presentation will delve into AML from various perspectives, and provide a foundational understanding on money laundering, terrorism financing and sanctions risks arising from customer relationships with nexus to digital assets in the Singapore context. Insights from the MAS Consultation Paper on the Proposed Framework for Single Family Offices will be included as well and provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of AML best practices and compliance measures.
We are pleased to have Ms Josephine Law, Counsel, Singapore, Sidley Austin LLP take us through an overview of these areas and share insights from her firm’s engagements with clients. During the breakout session, the Sidley Austin’s team will also facilitate discussions among the participants for a deeper dive into these pertinent topics.
