This dialogue provided a timely platform for members to exchange ideas on a topic that has attracted strong industry interest, and contribute towards the industry’s collective response.

Key pointers from the dialogue:

1. Safeguarding Framework in Singapore:

MAS outlined three key pillars to protect investors — ensuring the quality of fund managers, maintaining sound product design, and providing clear and transparent disclosures.

2. Foundation of Investor Protection and Education:

Strong investor protection and education must underpin any efforts to expand retail access to private markets, ensuring investors understand the products they are investing in.

3. Clear Communication and Realistic Product Design:

Institutions should have clear, accessible communication with investors and ensure that product structures realistically reflect liquidity constraints, helping to manage expectations and promote informed decision-making.
