IMAS launched its AI Series, bringing together industry practitioners to examine how artificial intelligence is being applied across the investment management value chain. The session introduced the “Investment Wheel”, a practical framework for identifying AI opportunities across front-, middle- and back-office functions.
Speakers shared perspectives on the use of AI in investment research, portfolio construction, operations, risk and compliance, reporting and client engagement. The discussion also addressed the governance structures needed to manage model risk, data lineage and ethical considerations; approaches to encouraging cross-functional adoption; and the balance between operational efficiency, scalability and effective risk controls. Participants also heard practical lessons on implementation, organisational readiness and the importance of identifying use cases capable of delivering measurable value.
The session featured Marko Milek, Pooja Kumari of BlackRock, Chetan Karkhanis of Franklin Templeton and David O’Brien of Aberdeen, with the panel moderated by Rishi Nanwani, Chairman of the IMAS Digital Innovation Committee.
