Mr Han Ming Ho, Partner and Ms Josephine Law, Counsel of
Sidley Austin LLP will co-present on the proposed corporate investment funds
regime that was first introduced to the market by the Monetary Authority of
Singapore (MAS) by way of a consultation paper in 2017. The session will
include a brief recap of the original proposal in 2017 which will be followed
by a comprehensive update on MAS’ response and first reading of the Variable Capital
Companies (VCC) Bill on 10 September 2018.
After a
consultation process run by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the VCC
Bill was passed in Parliament on 1 October 2018. It is expected to come into
effect in 2019 following the legislative process. The new VCC framework is
intended to offer asset managers in Singapore greater flexibility and lower
costs by providing new structuring options for investment funds.
Han Ming and
Josephine will share insights about the VCC’s key features and how these
features will benefit asset managers in Singapore.
