Yew Boon will be sharing with us, an introduction to the asset class — investment philosophy, strategy, styles, typical IRRs and other characteristics. How and why returns may differ significantly from public market returns, key features of the major investment regions (US, Europe, Asia). Whether Private Equity deserves an allocation in all portfolios, and thoughts on how it might be made more accessible to a wider pool of investors.
Yew Boon’s current responsibilities include research and planning related to GIC SI’s private equity investment strategy, helping portfolio companies in strategic business development and globalisation, and screening and evaluating new investments for the firm’s Investment Committee. He was previously in charge of investments in European venture capital funds and technology companies.
Prior to GIC, he spent nine years in equity research with leading Asian investment banks, supervising equity research teams in Singapore and other South-East Asian markets. Before entering the financial sector, Yew Boon worked for five years with the Economic Development Board of the Singapore Government, in various capacities – including three years as its Stockholm-based Director, Nordic Countries.
