Key Global Asset Management Policy Trends and the Implications for Asia

Key Global Asset Management Policy Trends and the Implications for Asia

27 Feb 2025

This exclusive seminar featuring global guest speakers Tracey Wingate, Chief Global Affairs Officer, Investment Company Institute (ICI) US and John Allan, Head of Innovation and Operations, Investment Association (IA) UK, will discuss the latest policy and regulatory trends shaping the asset management industry.

Across the United States, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific, much is changing, and there is potential for this to provide implications for Asia. With the new U.S. Administration prioritizing issues such as digital assets and shifting away from sustainable finance, and Europe re-evaluating its approach to sustainability and climate policies to focus more on competitiveness, the global policy landscape is rapidly evolving. International standard-setting bodies, such as IOSCO and the Financial Stability Board, continue to scrutinize liquidity risk management and leverage in the funds sector.

The momentum behind digital assets has reinvigorated the industry conversation around digital capital markets and tokenisation, and wider technological innovation such as via artificial intelligence potentially disrupting much of the established investment value chain and how we engage with the end consumer and the capital markets.

At the same time, there is a growing emphasis in many Asian and European markets on increasing household engagement with capital markets, particularly through private pension systems. Such changes can create opportunities to shift a greater share of savings into investments, providing a source of growth for the industry and allowing household to make greater use of funds to support a secure financial future.

This interactive discussion will help attendees connect the dots between these important trends in the United States, UK and Europe, and the Asia Pacific, and understand their potential impact on Asia’s asset management outlook.
