Development Committee


The Development Committee pursues initiatives to address infrastructural gaps, improve industry practices, and provide further support for growth. Always forward looking, the Committee recently formed a China sub-committee and aims to enhance the Association’s support system for Chinese fund houses looking to join IMAS.

David POH was most recently Head of Research at Amundi BOC (Bank of China) Wealth Management based in Shanghai for close to 2 years, where he led a team of 11 analysts covering domestic Chinese equities and credits. He first joined Amundi in February 2018 as Head of Equities based in Singapore, and was subsequently appointed Head of Investments for Singapore in November 2019.

Prior to Amundi, David wore multiple hats, including management of discretionary mandate for high and ultra-net worth clients in Asia for AZ Investment Management; team head for Credit Suisse EAM desk; Regional Head of Strategic Asset Allocation, Head of Investment Advisory and Head of Discretionary Portfolio Management in Societe Generale and the Global Head of Equities for Bank of Singapore.

David started his professional career in 1996 and had worked in a number of leading multinational financial institutions as portfolio manager for Alliance Bernstein Asset Management; Senior Asian equity analyst for Pioneer Investments and Deputy CIO for Credit Suisse Asset Management.

David holds a degree in Banking & Finance from National University of Singapore; a Honours degree in Economics from University of London and an MBA from Nanyang Business School. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst since 1997

She is also ranked as a Leading Individual for Financial Services Regulatory: Local Firms in Singapore by Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2020. She is recognised as a leading lawyer for Banking & Finance: Regulatory in Singapore by Chambers Asia Pacific and Chambers Global 2020.

Chief Executive Officer, CSOP Asset Management Limited

Chen Ding is the Chief Executive Officer of CSOP Asset Management Limited. She has held this position since 2010 and has led the company to become the largest RMB Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (RQFII) manager globally. Ms. Ding was also Assistant Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of China Southern Asset Management Co. Ltd. (“CSAM”) from 2003 to 2013. During her tenure at CSAM, she successfully established its Qualified Domestic Institutional Investor (“QDII”) business to issue China’s first public QDII fund, which went on to become the largest in the nation. Ms. Ding was named “CEO of the Year in Asia” in the 2013 Best of Best Awards held by Asia Asset Management.

She serves as Chairperson of the Chinese Asset Management Association of Hong Kong, promoting communication and advocating for best practices among Chinese asset managers. In addition, she is a Board Member and Convener of the Mainland Opportunities Committee of Financial Services Development Council. She is also the Co-Chairperson of the International Business Committee of the Asset Management Association of China, as well as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Securities and Futures Commission, the Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal, Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the Financial Infrastructure Sub-Committee of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee, Hong Kong Monetary Authority.

Rajeev was the former CIO of Bank of Singapore, the private banking arm of OCBC Bank, and oversee the research and investment strategy teams, as well as produce house views across all asset classes. Prior to the appointment at the Bank of Singapore, Rajeev spent almost nine years at U.K. fund manager Schroders, based in Singapore, where he was most recently head of Asian Fixed Income and co-head of Emerging Markets Relative. Before that, he was senior investment officer and Singapore country head for Western Asset Management for four years. He also spent eight years at Pictet and five at UBS as head of fixed income.

Rajeev was conferred the IBF Fellow award in 2016 by the Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore (IBF).

Dhananjay Phadnis has over 20 years of experience in researching and investing in companies in Asia. He joined Fidelity in 2004 as an investment analyst and was initially based in Mumbai, India where he covered Industrials, materials and other cyclical sectors. He then relocated to Hong Kong in 2006 to cover regional telecommunications. He started managing the Fidelity Funds Indonesia Fund in 2008. He was promoted to Director of Research in 2009 and Portfolio Manager in 2011. He currently manages regional mandates in Asia Pacific including the Fidelity Sustainable Asia Equity Fund. He has recently been named as ‘ESG fund manager of the year 2022’ in The Asset Triple-A Awards.

Dhananjay started his investing career in 2001 as an Equity Research Associate at JP Morgan India. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Pune University in India and a post graduate diploma in Management (MBA) from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. He is also a Chartered Accountant and a CFA Charterholder.

Phillip studied at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and graduated with honours in Business. He has a Master of Business Administration from The Imperial College in London, UK and is a Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder and a Chartered Accountant with ISCA.

Stefan joined Pictet Asset Management in Zurich in 2005 and oversaw the Institutional Market Switzerland until 2022. He has wide ranging and substantial experience in the area of asset management for institutional clients. He has worked as an investment consultant for pension funds at Complementa AG, as well as occupying various positions in the Asset Management at Zurcher Kantonalbank (ZKB). While working in research, he was responsible for the technical side and further development of ZKB’s fixed income investment products. Stefan completed his doctoral thesis at the University of St Gallen on the topic of Interest Rate Risks and Derivatives. Since December 2022 he is the CEO of the Singapore office of Pictet Asset Management.

The Development Committee spearheads the conduct of the annual IMAS Investment Managers’ Outlook Survey, taking pulse from senior investment professionals including CEOs and CIOs from fund management companies based in Singapore, about issues ranging from their near-term outlook to broader trends in the investment management industry.

The Committee also helps to shape pertinent topical issues to the industry such as impacts to economies and markets, cybersecurity and the impact of Singapore Budget on asset management
